Divine Omens and Fiends
In fortune - telling, apart from the previous explanation about the positioning of the ten gods, which can only be regarded as common sense. There are two simplest ways of fortune - telling:
The first way is to use the principles of punishment, conflict, combination, and conjunction for fortune - telling. Last time, when we talked about those with a short lifespan, we used the theory of conflict and punishment. For example, if there is a conflict between the current year's fleeting year and one's birth chart, and one offends the Grand Duke Jupiter, no matter what kind of fate one has, there will be troubles. So, fortune - telling based on punishment, conflict, combination, and conjunction is the easiest, and people often mention it in daily conversations. For example, people often say things like "I'm having a conflict" and so on.
The second easy way for fortune - telling is to use divine and evil stars. The theory of divine and evil stars does not originate from the Ziping School. It has existed for a long time. The theory of divine and evil stars belongs to the art of choosing auspicious days. Selecting a good day is called "choosing an auspicious day". In terms of predicting good and bad fortune in life, divination was the earliest method, followed by the art of choosing auspicious days, then the study of yang houses, and finally fortune - telling. Fortune - telling emerged after the late Eastern Han Dynasty, so the system of divine and evil stars already existed.
So, what are divine omens? Divine omens are a characteristic and have nothing to do with whether one's fate is good or bad. For example, when we talk about the Peach Blossom Omen, Nobleman Omen, and Horse Omen, even those who don't know how to tell fortunes are familiar with these terms. They are just phenomena and don't actually represent good or bad luck, blessings or misfortunes. To determine good or bad luck, one needs to continue with the fortune - telling. For instance, when we say someone has the Peach Blossom Omen in their fate, it's often just a joke. It implies a lot of complex and chaotic romantic relationships. However, when it comes to the actual situation, the Peach Blossom Omen can either lead to one's downfall and disgrace or bring both wealth and love. It can result in a long - term marriage or just a fleeting affair. These details require in - depth discussion. There are countless divine omens. There are hundreds of them in the "Xieji Bianfang Shu", but the Ziping School only selects about twenty - odd of them. The Ziping method is relatively rigorous. First, I'll introduce the meaning of these divine omens to you. The meaning in the book may be different from the one I explain to you. Then I'll explain them one by one for everyone. This is a relatively relaxing part and you don't need to memorize. You just need to know the generation and restraint relationships of the five elements.
On pages 31 to 33 of the book Fundamentals of Ziping (13th edition), there is a table of divine omens. Just follow what it says beside the table. If it says to check from the earthly branch of the year column, then check from the earthly branch of the year column; if it says to check from the earthly branch of the month column, then check from the earthly branch of the month column.
