Si-Wu-Wei Three Meeting of Fire

Si, Wu, and Wei are consecutive branches corresponding to early, middle, and late summer. Together they cover the full summer season, so when all three are present they form the southern Three Meeting of Fire.

The relationship is based on continuous seasonal and directional qi. Si and Wu are Fire branches, while Wei is an Earth branch, but Wei is the late-summer branch and therefore completes the southern seasonal group.

Wei participates because of its seasonal and directional position, not because its basic Element is Fire. Yu Ding Xing Li Kao Yuan places Si-Wu-Wei in summer while separately classifying Wei among the four Earth branches.

This also means Wei should not be treated as the storage branch of Fire. San Ming Tong Hui identifies Wei as the storage of Wood and Xu as the storage of Fire. The Si-Wu-Wei Fire Meeting and the Yin-Wu-Xu Fire Combination follow different organizing principles.

Si-Wu-Wei forms through three consecutive summer branches and concentrates the southern seasonal Fire qi. Yin-Wu-Xu is a Three Combination based on Fire's growth, peak, and storage stages. Both can strengthen Fire, but they are not the same structure.

If parts of both structures appear in one chart, each relationship should be assessed separately rather than reduced to a single generic “Fire formation.”

The immediate effect is a stronger concentration of Fire. If Fire is useful, the meeting can reinforce it. If the chart is already heavily weighted toward Fire, the same structure can increase the imbalance.

Concrete effects depend on the Ten Gods represented by Fire, the pillar positions of Si, Wu, and Wei, and any Water, Metal, Combinations, or Clashes that modify the structure. The Three Meeting itself is not automatically favorable or unfavorable.
