On Miscellaneous Qi

Original Text

Interpretation

The mixed qi refers to the four earthly branches: Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei. In Chen, there are Yi, Wu, and Gui. It is the storage for water and earth qi. In Xu, there are Xin, Wu, and Ding. It is the storage for fire qi. In Chou, there are Gui, Xin, and Ji. It is the storage for metal qi. In Wei, there are Ding, Ji, and Yi. It is the storage for wood qi. We should consider them according to the qi they contain. Look at the heavenly stem of our birth date. They may serve as official qi, wealth qi, or seal qi. Official qi is something that brings fortune and status. Wealth qi is the source of sustenance for life. Seal qi is the foundation for self - support. These are extremely important for a person. Each of the four storage branches contains three elements. They are the irregular qi of heaven and earth, so they are called "mixed".

The classic says: When wealth, official rank, and seal - ribbon are all complete, it means they are hidden and stored in the four seasons. This pattern favors the revelation and clash - punishment, and dislikes suppression. The other preferences and taboos are the same as those of the previous proper qi wealth - official - seal pattern. For example, if a person is born on a day of the Jia - Wood (in the Heavenly Stems) in the Chou (Ox) month, in Chou, Xin - Metal serves as the official, Ji - Earth as the wealth, and Gui - Water as the seal. We should see which character is revealed in the Heavenly Stems to determine the degree of fortune. Also, we need to consider the shallowness or depth of the solar terms and which element is in charge. Generally, if the wealth is revealed, the person will be rich; if the official is revealed, the person will be noble. If the seal - ribbon is revealed, the person will enjoy the existing fortune from their parents and ancestors and the nobility through imperial edicts and protection. If there is no revelation, a little bit of clash - punishment combined with a strong body (in the context of the Five - Element theory) is excellent. It is taboo for the body to be weak. If the clash - punishment is excessive, the gathered fortune will disperse.

If there are elements in the original Bazi (a traditional Chinese astrological system) that cause damage, one should never encounter such unlucky periods again. If such periods occur again, it will be excessive and will damage the auspicious qi, which is actually inauspicious. If there are no such harmful elements in the original Bazi, one should welcome the periods of conflict and punishment.

"Jing Jian" says: For the miscellaneous qi wealth and official positions, if one's body (element representing oneself in the Bazi) is strong and there are clashes, one will achieve success. However, if it is excessive, one will end up in loneliness and poverty. It also says: In the pattern of miscellaneous qi wealth and official positions, if there are many wealth stars in the four pillars, it is considered a good fate. If the four pillars fall into other patterns, the judgment should be based on those other patterns. It further says: The pattern of miscellaneous qi wealth and official positions includes the pattern of the proper official, the pattern of the partial official, the pattern of the proper wealth, and the pattern of the partial wealth. The pattern of miscellaneous qi seals includes the pattern of the proper seal and the pattern of the partial seal. One must distinguish between the partial and the proper. If it is the partial official, a little restraint is required. If the tomb - storage is repeated and there are originally no punishments or clashes, and the noble qi does not emerge, and there are Wu and Ji (Earth elements) suppressing it, it is very difficult to achieve success in youth. Therefore, it is said that the wealth and official positions are locked up in youth, and those in the tomb will not achieve success. It also says: The four storage (Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei) are also the places of decline, nourishment, and the stage of the crown. If it appears in the hour pillar, it is called the hour tomb pattern, which is judged in the same way as when it appears in the month pillar, but the success comes later. For example, in the Bazi of Dinghai, Wuzhi, Bingshen, and Jichou, Bing uses the Chou tomb as the wealth storage. When the person goes through the Wei fortune, it clashes with the Chou storage and the person will make a fortune. When seeing Ren, Chen is the official storage. When reaching the Xu fortune, it clashes with the Chen storage and the person will achieve an official position.

If there are Wuchen and Jichou in the pillar suppressing the storage on the stem, then one cannot make fortune or gain an official position, and it is difficult to regard it as a good fate. If there is a clash or combination, then the clash cannot occur. It is also said that when the month is in the storage position, it represents the qi of the four corners of the east, west, south, and north. For example, when Wei (associated with wood) is in the east, Xu (associated with fire) is in the south, Chen (associated with water) is in the north, and Chou (associated with metal) is in the west and in the storage or tomb state. When the luck cycle moves to the prosperous and growing positions, there will surely be good fortune. For instance, if the month is in the Chen position representing water qi, and the luck cycle moves to the south, without any combination or meeting, it is only regarded as related to earth.

It is also said: The ancients regarded the burial places of the five elements as warehouses. If one's horoscope has a warehouse, and it is combined with the five - element that is the one being overcome by the Tai Sui, for example, a person with the wood element getting Xinwei (Year of the Sheep with Xin as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the fire element getting Gengxu (Year of the Dog with Geng as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the earth element getting Renchen (Year of the Dragon with Ren as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the water element getting Jiachen (Year of the Dragon with Jia as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the metal element getting Guichou (Year of the Ox with Gui as the Heavenly Stem), it is said that there is wealth in the warehouse, and such a person must be wealthy. If one's horoscope has the signs of burial and extinction, and is combined with the five - element that the Tai Sui fears, for example, a person with the wood element getting Yiwei (Year of the Sheep with Yi as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the fire element getting Ruxu (Year of the Dog with Ru as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the earth element getting Wuchen (Year of the Dragon with Wu as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the metal element getting Jichou (Year of the Ox with Ji as the Heavenly Stem), a person with the water element getting Bingchen (Year of the Dragon with Bing as the Heavenly Stem), it is called having no support in the place of extinction, and such a person must be in a difficult situation. If the five elements are successively in the state of warehouse and burial in a pure way without being broken, and there are also auspicious stars, this is the pattern of high - ranking officials. If it is broken but then turns into a prosperous state, or broken and then falls into a dead and extinct state, and there are auspicious stars, the judgment should be made with a reduced degree of fortune. If it is broken by the overcoming element and there are no auspicious stars, the person is just an ordinary commoner. This pattern of warehouse and burial, regardless of whether the person is noble or humble, only means that the person himself will be prosperous in life, but it is not beneficial to relatives, and it is still difficult to have children. There is a so - called "ghost at the warehouse head". For example, people with the Jia or Yi (wood - related) elements seeing Xinwei should avoid Dingsi; people with the Bing or Ding (fire - related) elements seeing Ruxu should avoid Wuyin; people with the Wu or Ji (earth - related) elements seeing Jiachen should avoid Gengyin; people with the Geng or Xin (metal - related) elements seeing Dingchou should avoid Guisi; people with the Ren or Gui (water - related) elements seeing Wuchen should avoid Jiayin. It is also called the "chariot evil". If one violates the taboos, it means that the chariot will be broken, the horse's leg will be broken, women will suffer from illnesses, and ordinary people will encounter theft. According to "The Divine White Classic", if one's birthday falls into this pattern and it can be used, and if the time does not violate the taboos, it mostly indicates wealth and honor. For gentlemen, they will pass the imperial examinations in their early years, and for ordinary people, they will be outstanding in their skills.

There is the so - called "treasury - head wealth". For those with the Heavenly Stems of Jia or Yi, it corresponds to the Earthly Branch Jiwei; for those with Bing or Ding, it is Gengxu; for those with Wu or Ji, it is Renchen; for those with Geng or Xin, it is Yichou; for those with Ren or Gui, it is Bingchen. For gentlemen, it mostly indicates being in charge of money and grain affairs. For ordinary people, it means a comfortable family business. This is discussed in terms of the appearance of wealth and official positions. For example, when metal meets Jichou fire, wood meets Yiwei metal, water meets Bingchen earth, earth meets Wuchen wood, and fire meets Renxu water. Such configurations are cases of encountering ghosts in the tomb, and the situation is very perilous and uncertain.

An ancient song goes:

When using the miscellaneous qi wealth and official positions in the lunar palace, it's prosperous only when they are revealed in the Heavenly Stems. When there is abundant wealth and strong official positions, it's advisable to have breakthroughs, and it's crucial to avoid heavy suppression by the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches.

Moreover:

Mixed qi has always been impure by nature. Only when it is revealed in the Heavenly Stems can it be considered genuine. When one's body is strong and wealth is prosperous, official emoluments will be generated. When the fortune enters the phase of conflict and punishment, treasures will be amassed.

Moreover:

The monthly order's key element should not be clashed. In nine out of ten cases, such a clash in one's fate brings misfortune. Only when the wealth and official elements meet the tomb and storage, does the fortune turn successful when the luck cycle reaches this stage.

Moreover:

When there is an official star in the tomb position, it indicates a late start in career. It's most amazing to encounter clashes and restraints. If there is no suppression and it reaches the noble position, both high - rank official positions and high prestige are appropriate.

Moreover:

If young people don't become those in the tomb, it's all because wealth and official positions are locked in the treasury. Only through damage and breaking can the lock be opened. If they are suppressed and hidden, they will surely suffer hardships. For the combination of Ding and Ren, Chen is regarded as the tomb. If Earth of Wu comes to cause harm, one will turn from rich to poor. If Yi Mao and Jia Yin come to offer relief together, the wealth stars will emerge and one will naturally prosper.

It is also said:

Mixed qi wealth official and seal are the same. In the pattern, one should most avoid the heavy presence of ghosts and wealth. It is better to have more of oneself giving birth. Although it's good to encounter others, one must strike a balance. If there is excessive wealth, it is advisable to retire from office. If one meets with prosperous officials, the blessings will be boundless. Remember the case of being greedy for wealth and ruining the seal. All the efforts for petty gains are in vain.

Moreover:

Wealth and official positions, along with mixed qi, are hidden in the storage. It's most preferable for the self - element to be born and enter the prosperous region. When the killing qi is strong and the self - element is weak, it should be restrained. When there is abundant wealth and the storage is full, it needs to be broken through. If there are suitable elements in the five - element system, look for other patterns. If the four pillars seem heartless, there are still interpretations. When the annual and monthly luck reaches the prosperous region of wealth, one's fame will steadily rise and become extremely high.
