Four Perfect Ones

Original Text

Interpretation

In the Chinese zodiac, the years of Yin (Tiger), Shen (Monkey), Si (Snake), and Hai (Pig) have the vital qi, the traveling horse, and the academy of the five - element system, which are called the Four Births. The years of Zi (Rat), Wu (Horse), Mao (Rabbit), and You (Rooster) have the prosperous qi of the five - element system. When they are combined with Yi, Xin, Ding, and Gui in the Heavenly Stems, they are called the Four Directions. The years of Chen (Dragon), Xu (Dog), Chou (Ox), and Wei (Goat) have the mixed qi of the five - element system. When they are associated with the Heavenly Net and the Proper Seal, they are called the Four Tombs. As the classic says: Wealth, official positions, and seals are located in the years of Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai. The "True Treasure Ode" says: The years of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You represent the image of exclusivity. Those with such a configuration in literature can become the pillar of the state at the first - rank level, and those in military affairs can achieve success with high - ranking positions. It also says: Those with configurations related to Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai can reach the highest - level official positions. The "Principle of Mystery Ode" says: If one has all the years of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, they will be indulged in wine and women. The "Thousand - Li Horse Ode" says: If one has all the Four Tombs, they can be as powerful as a dragon in the vast ocean and become the supreme ruler. The "Precious Mirror Ode" says: If the years of Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei are in a sequential order, there is no doubt that one will receive the imperial mandate. The "Song for the Unenlightened" says: When all the Four Tombs are present, it is a sign of great honor, and one can hold high - ranking positions and have the power to make decisions. The "Solitary Steps" says: For the configuration of the Four Births (Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai), if one's body is strong and can make good use of the relevant elements, they will gain good fortune. For the configuration of the Four Declines (Zi, Wu, Mao, and You), men may experience rise and fall, and women may face loneliness. Those who meet this configuration are mostly destined for great wealth and honor, but they will inevitably encounter harm among their relatives. There will be continuous setbacks because of the mutual conflicts and lack of harmony. The "Accurate Records" says: For the years of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, if they form a proper configuration, it is called the full - fledged Four Extremes. If they fail to form a proper configuration, it is called the widespread peach blossoms. Men and women with such a situation, although they may be noble and wealthy, will inevitably be indulged in wine and women and be people of little virtue.

The poem goes:

If the four characters "yin", "shen", "si", and "hai" are connected, and so are "chen", "xu", "chou", and "wei". If not in a major position to hold the highest power, one will surely serve as a close attendant in the court.

Moreover:

With the Day De and Day Gui combinations along with the Kui Gang, When the four pillars are pure and complete, it brings great good fortune. If it also fits into one of the six patterns, Such a fate is truly extraordinary.

Here, four positions of "Ride Virtue", four positions of "Kuigang", and four positions of "Ride Nobility" are taken, without other Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. It is regarded in the same way as the pattern of four - position pure completeness.
