Xuanwu in Power

壬癸水属北方，谓之玄武当权，亦持势之义。如壬寅、壬午、壬戌、壬辰、癸巳、癸丑、癸未，俱坐下财官印，若身旺有依托，官星通月令生气，为贵，大忌水局伤官，重并凶恶，死于不义，如遇土局火重，宜见金泄气，生助本身，为吉，冲破身弱则凶，岁运同。有以壬辰日时名玄武受戳，主官员被谗，有失小人，是非不宁。
诗曰：
玄武秋生旺北方，如临巳午土神乡，若见艮寅财福厚，平生名利两吉昌。
又：
玄武当权要得真，日乾壬癸坐财星，官星若也居门户，无破当为大用人。
Interpretation
In the theory of the Five Elements, the water elements of Ren and Gui belong to the North, which is called the dominance of the Black Tortoise, also meaning holding power. For example, in the combinations of Renyin, Renwu, Renxu, Renshen, Guisi, Guichou, and Guiwei, there are all wealth, official positions, and seals sitting below the Heavenly Stems. If one's body (life force) is strong and has support, and the official star is in harmony with the qi of the current month, it indicates nobility. However, it is extremely taboo to have a water - dominated situation with excessive damage to the official star. When there are too many such negative elements, it is extremely inauspicious, and one may die an unjust death. If there is a strong earth - dominated situation with intense fire, it is advisable to have metal to disperse the energy and support one's own body, which is considered auspicious. But if the body is weak and there are break - throughs, it is inauspicious. The same principle applies to the annual and monthly luck. There is a saying that for those born on the Renshen day or at the Renshen hour, it is called "the Black Tortoise being stabbed", which means that officials may be slandered, be associated with villains, and be troubled by endless disputes.
The poem goes:
The Black Tortoise (Xuanwu) thrives in the north during autumn. If it is in the territory of the Earth Gods related to the positions of Si and Wu, and if it meets the positions of Gen and Yin, one will have abundant wealth and good fortune. Throughout one's life, both fame and fortune will be prosperous.

When the Dark Warrior (Xuanwu) is in power, one must seek the truth. If the day's Heavenly Stem is Ren or Gui and sits on the wealth star, and if the official star is also at the "gateway" (a certain position in fortune - telling), without any damage, this person will surely become a great figure.
