On the Ten Great Disasters of the Wicked

Original Text

Interpretation

The "ten evils" are like those who, according to the law, commit the ten most heinous crimes and are not pardoned. The "great defeat" is like those in military strategy who engage in battle with the enemy and suffer a great defeat with no one surviving, which symbolizes extreme bad luck. In the cycle of the six Jia, there are ten days when the person's "lu" (the position of good fortune in the Bazi system) falls into the "empty and dead" state. For example, in the case of Jia Chen and Yi Si, Jia takes Yin as its "lu", and Yi takes Mao as its "lu", and in the Jia Chen cycle, Yin and Mao are in the state of "empty and dead". For Ren Shen, Ren takes Hai as its "lu", and in the Jia Zi cycle, Hai is in the state of "empty and dead". The same principle applies to other days such as Bing Shen, Ding Hai, Geng Chen, Wu Xu, Gui Hai, Xin Si, and Yi Chou. If a person's Bazi has such a situation, it should be judged based on the day pillar, and other pillars are not considered. Moreover, those who have such a situation in their Bazi are not necessarily all unlucky. If there are auspicious stars to support and noble influences to assist, it should be regarded as auspicious.

The "Yuanbai Classic" says, "The ten evils all occur within ten Chen periods. Each year has inauspicious signs to be distinguished." For example, in the Gengxu year, the Jiachen day is inauspicious; in the Xinhai year, the Yisi day is inauspicious; in the Renyin year, the Bingshen day is inauspicious; in the Guisi year, the Dinghai day is inauspicious; in the Jiachen year, the Wuxu day is inauspicious; in the Yimao year, the Yichou day is inauspicious; in the Jiasu year, the Gengchen day is inauspicious; in the Yihai year, the Xinsi day is inauspicious; in the Bingyin year, the Renshen day is inauspicious; in the Dingsi year, the Guihai day is inauspicious. This is because when the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches of the year clash with those of the day, and there is no "lu" (a concept in traditional Chinese fortune - telling), it is regarded as inauspicious. All other situations are fine.
