夫德者,利物济人、掩凶作善之谓也。天德者,谓周天有三百六十五度二十五分半,除十二宫分野,每宫各占三十度,共计三百六十度,外有五度二十五分半,散在十二佐宫甲、庚、丙、壬、乙、辛、丁、癸、乾、坤、艮、巽,谓之神藏煞没。每宫各得四十四分,所以子午卯酉中有甲庚丙壬,辰戌丑未中有乙辛丁癸,寅申巳亥中有乾坤艮巽,此十二位宫,能回凶作善,乃曰天德也。月德者,乃三合所照之方,日月会合之辰,申子辰会酉出,庚入垣于壬;亥卯未会干出,丙入垣于甲;午戌会卯出,甲入垣于丙;巳酉丑会子出,壬入垣于庚,故壬甲丙癸谓之月德,而辰未戌丑四月,天德亦同属焉。盖日月照临之宫,凡天曜地煞,尽可制服,故可回凶作吉。阎东叟云:贵神在位,诸煞伏藏;二德扶持,众凶解散。凡命中带凶煞,得此二德扶化,凶不为甚;须要日上见,时上不犯克冲刑破,方吉。凡人得之,一生安逸,不犯刑,不逢盗,纵遇凶祸,自然消散。与三奇、天乙贵同并,尤为吉庆。或财官、印绶、食神、变德,各随所变,更加一倍之福。入贵格,主登科甲,得君宠任;或承祖荫,亦得显达。入贱格,一生温饱,福寿两全;纵有蹇滞,亦能守分固穷,不失为君子。女命得之,多为贵人之妻。《三命铃》云:天德者,五行福德之辰,若人遇之,主登台辅之位,更有月德并者,尤好;纵有凶煞,亦主清显。《子平赋》云:「印绶得同天德,官刑不犯,至老无殃」。是天德胜月德也。

考大统历,有天月德合,乃五行相契之辰。月备合,如正月丙与辛合,二月甲与己合,三月壬与丁合,四月庚与乙合,馀照此。天德合,如正月丁与壬合,二月坤与巽合,三月壬与丁合,四月辛与丙合,馀照此。

有月空,如寅午戌月壬,亥卯未月庚,申子辰月丙,巳酉丑月申。

有月厌,正月戊,二月酉,三月申,四月未,五月午,六月巳,七月辰,八月卯,九月寅,十月丑,十一月子,十二月亥。

有月煞,寅午戌月丑,亥卯未月戌,申子辰月未,巳酉丑月辰。

有天赦日,春戊寅,夏甲午,秋戊申,冬甲子,乃四时专气,生育万物,宥罪赦过。如人命聚一月德秀合空及四大吉时生,更遇天赦日,尤妙。

此外又有天喜神,春戊,夏丑,秋辰、冬未,遇者主欢欣。

有旌德煞,如寅午戌、丙日进,亥卯未、甲日时,申子辰、壬日时,巳酉丑、庚日时。

有旌钺煞,如寅午戌、寅时,亥卯未、亥时,甲子辰、申时,巳酉丑、巳时。又,寅午戌见辛,亥卯未见己,申子辰见丁,巳酉丑见乙,亦谓之旌德。经云:「一神主旌德,五世不贫穷;内有旌钺煞,将相及三公。」德钺相会,不贵即富。

又有一种旌钺煞,寅卯辰人见癸酉,巳午未人见癸卯,申酉戌人见戊子,亥子丑人见戊午,乃四时专主诛戮之神,庶人主徒配;克本命,主恶死。

又有一种三公煞,寅午戌人壬子,巳酉丑人丙午,申子辰人乙卯,亥卯未人辛酉,乃坐四方专气来克生年,为五行毒气,庶人犯之,主非横恶死。若旌钺更与三公煞会同一位,主殊贵。今之谈命者论月德而诸煞不论,自是偏见,因并及之。

Interpretation

Virtue refers to benefiting all beings, saving people in need, concealing evil and doing good. Heavenly Virtue means that there are 365 degrees, 25 minutes and a half in a full cycle of the sky. Excluding the division of the twelve zodiac signs, each sign occupies 30 degrees, totaling 360 degrees. The remaining 5 degrees, 25 minutes and a half are scattered among the twelve auxiliary positions: Jia, Geng, Bing, Ren, Yi, Xin, Ding, Gui, Qian, Kun, Gen, and Xun. This is called "the hiding of gods and the disappearance of evil spirits". Each of these positions gets 44 minutes. So, in the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, there are Jia, Geng, Bing, and Ren; in the positions of Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei, there are Yi, Xin, Ding, and Gui; in the positions of Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai, there are Qian, Kun, Gen, and Xun. These twelve positions can turn bad luck into good, and this is called Heavenly Virtue. Monthly Virtue is the direction illuminated by the three - conjunction and the time when the sun and the moon meet. When Shen, Zi, and Chen are in conjunction, the light comes out from You, and Geng enters the domain of Ren; when Hai, Mao, and Wei are in conjunction, the light comes out from Qian, and Bing enters the domain of Jia; when Wu, Xu, and Chen are in conjunction, the light comes out from Mao, and Jia enters the domain of Bing; when Si, You, and Chou are in conjunction, the light comes out from Zi, and Ren enters the domain of Geng. Therefore, Ren, Jia, Bing, and Gui are called Monthly Virtue. In the four months of Chen, Wei, Xu, and Chou, the Heavenly Virtue is also the same. Since the palaces illuminated by the sun and the moon can subdue all celestial and earthly evil spirits, they can turn bad luck into good. Yan Dongsou said: "When the noble star is in position, all evil spirits hide; with the support of the two virtues, all misfortunes disperse." If there are evil stars in one's birth chart, with the support and transformation of these two virtues, the misfortune will not be too serious. It is necessary that these virtues appear in the day column and there are no conflicts, punishments, or breaks in the hour column for it to be auspicious. Those who have these virtues in their lives will live in comfort, not violate the law, and not encounter thieves. Even if they meet with misfortunes, the misfortunes will naturally disappear. If these virtues are combined with the Three Wonders and the Heavenly Noble Star, it is even more auspicious. If they are combined with wealth, official rank, seal, or gourmet luck and are transformed, the blessings will be doubled. If one is in a noble fate, they will pass the imperial examinations and be favored and appointed by the emperor; or they will inherit the family fortune and become prominent. If one is in a common fate, they will have enough food and clothing throughout their lives, enjoy both good fortune and a long life. Even if there are setbacks, they can abide by their principles and remain poor with dignity, still being regarded as a gentleman. For women, having these virtues often means becoming the wife of a noble person. The "Three - Fate Bell" says: "Heavenly Virtue is the position of the five - element blessings. If a person encounters it, they will hold high - ranking positions. If it is combined with Monthly Virtue, it is even better. Even if there are evil stars, they will still have a prominent and noble life." The "Ziping Ode" says: "If the seal is combined with Heavenly Virtue, one will not violate the law and will have no disasters until old age." This shows that Heavenly Virtue is superior to Monthly Virtue.

After examining the Daitong Calendar, it is found that there are days when Tianyue Dehe (a combination of celestial and lunar favorable elements) occurs, which are the moments when the five - elements are in harmony. For the Yuebeihe (monthly combination): in the first lunar month, Bing combines with Xin; in the second lunar month, Jia combines with Ji; in the third lunar month, Ren combines with Ding; in the fourth lunar month, Geng combines with Yi, and so on for the rest. For the Tiandehe (celestial favorable combination): in the first lunar month, Ding combines with Ren; in the second lunar month, Kun combines with Xun; in the third lunar month, Ren combines with Ding; in the fourth lunar month, Xin combines with Bing, and so on for the rest.

There is the concept of "empty with the moon". For example, in the months of Yin, Wu, and Xu, it is Ren; in the months of Hai, Mao, and Wei, it is Geng; in the months of Shen, Zi, and Chen, it is Bing; in the months of Si, You, and Chou, it is Shen.

There are monthly taboos. In the first lunar month, it's the day with the Heavenly Stem Wu; in the second lunar month, it's You; in the third lunar month, it's Shen; in the fourth lunar month, it's Wei; in the fifth lunar month, it's Wu; in the sixth lunar month, it's Si; in the seventh lunar month, it's Chen; in the eighth lunar month, it's Mao; in the ninth lunar month, it's Yin; in the tenth lunar month, it's Chou; in the eleventh lunar month, it's Zi; in the twelfth lunar month, it's Hai.

There is the lunar evil star. In the months of Yin, Wu, and Xu, it is Chou; in the months of Hai, Mao, and Wei, it is Xu; in the months of Shen, Zi, and Chen, it is Wei; in the months of Si, You, and Chou, it is Chen.

There are days of amnesty. In spring, it is the day of Wuyin; in summer, the day of Jiawu; in autumn, the day of Wushen; and in winter, the day of Jiazi. These are the exclusive qi of the four seasons, which give birth to all things and pardon crimes and mistakes. If a person is born in a month when the virtues and graces gather, the astral signs are in an auspicious constellation, and it coincides with one of the four great auspicious hours, and moreover, it is on a day of amnesty, it is even more wonderful.

There is the Jinyue Evil. For example, in the Bingwu Xu combination, it occurs at the Yin hour; in the Haimao Wei combination, at the Hai hour; in the Jiazichen combination, at the Shen hour; and in the Siyou Chou combination, at the Si hour. Also, when Bingwu Xu meets Xin, Haimao Wei meets Ji, Shenzichen meets Ding, and Siyou Chou meets Yi, it is also called Jinde. The classic says: "One divine sign represents Jinde, and the family will not be poor for five generations; if there is the Jinyue Evil within, the family will produce generals, prime - ministers, and high - ranking officials." When Jinde and Jinyue meet, one will either be noble or wealthy.

There is also a kind of "Jingyue Sha" (a malevolent star in traditional Chinese divination).
