Interpretation
The "yang" here refers to the yang in the concept of yin and yang, and the "blade" refers to the blade of a knife. It is the position one step ahead of the prosperity (lu). It means that when the prosperity exceeds its proper measure, it is dangerous. Upon careful consideration, for a person with the heavenly stem of Jia, when encountering Mao, there is Yi Wood in Mao. Yi is the younger brother of Jia and can seize his elder brother's wealth. It can also drive away the Xin Metal (official) in You and combine with Geng Metal (the wife of Jia). Geng is the seven - killing of Jia. Seizing wealth, driving away the official and combining with the seven - killing, this is why it is extremely inauspicious. Only the five yang heavenly stems of Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng and Ren have the blade, while the five yin heavenly stems of Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin and Gui do not. So it is called the "yang blade". Only when encountering the "hurting official" does it bring the same misfortune as the yang blade. Therefore, when Yi encounters Bing, it is also called the blade. Because Bing hurts the Geng Metal (official) of Yi, combines with the Xin Metal (seven - killing), and restrains the Yi Wood. The restraint of yin metal on yin wood is extremely poisonous, so the inauspiciousness is the same as that of the yang blade. There are three types of yang blades. There is the "wealth - seizing blade", such as Jia encountering Yi, which is unfavorable to the pattern of wealth and official. There is the "prosperity - protecting blade", such as Jia encountering Mao, which is very beneficial to the pattern of returning to prosperity. There is the "prosperity - turning - away blade", such as Yi encountering Bing, which is very beneficial to the pattern of removing the official and retaining the seven - killing.
The "Chapter on Favorable and Unfavorable Omens" states: "One should definitely avoid having Rob Wealth and Yang Blade in the Hour Pillar. When the annual and luck cycles coincide with it, disasters will immediately befall. Specifically regarding Yang Blade in the Hour Pillar, it is more significant than in the Year, Month, or Day Pillars. For example, if someone is born on an A Day and sees B Mao in the Hour Pillar, this is a true Yang Blade. If one already has Yang Blade in their birth chart, it will lead to harm to the wife and loss of wealth, and disasters are already in the making. When the annual cycle and luck cycle encounter Yang Blade again, it is called 'co - occurrence'. If one sees Si or You, it is a clash with the annual pillar; if one sees Hai, Wei, or Xu, it is a combination with the annual pillar. Yang Blade is an inauspicious star, and the Grand Duke Jupiter is an inauspicious god. If the Grand Duke Jupiter is supported by auspicious stars, a combination will bring good fortune. However, if the inauspicious Yang Blade star clashes or combines with the annual pillar, it is called 'the gathering of inauspiciousness and evil', and the misfortune is inevitable."
The classic says: When the Yang Blade clashes or combines with the annual stem and branch, misfortune will suddenly befall. This is what it means. However, detailed discrimination is also needed in the middle. If one's natal chart is weak, this will indeed be the case. But if one's natal chart is strong with a deep foundation of qi, or there are the Heavenly and Lunar Virtues or amnesty texts to relieve the situation, there will only be minor problems and no major disasters. Or if there is already a Yang Blade in the day pillar, and there is a clash or combination, and then the annual and luck cycles bring another clash or combination, it is extremely inauspicious. If the annual cycle has a clash or combination but the luck cycle doesn't, or vice versa, the misfortune should be considered half as severe. It is also said that if the day stem has no qi and there is a Yang Blade in the hour pillar, it is not considered inauspicious. It means that when the Heavenly Stem of the birth day is in the state of death, extinction, decline, illness, or sudden defeat, and has no connection with the qi of the month, and cannot bear the wealth and official positions. If there is a Yang Blade at this time, it can rob wealth and transform evil qi. Just like when an elder brother is weak and the wealth is heavy, having a younger brother to share the burden can make the wealth usable for oneself, so it is not regarded as inauspicious. When one's body (natal chart) is weak and encounters wealth and official positions, one naturally hopes that the Yang Blade can share the wealth and combine with the evil qi. If one encounters the Eating God and Hurting Officer, which will drain the qi when the body is weak, one also hopes that the Yang Blade can support. But if one encounters the Seal, then it is not the situation of the day stem having no qi. Previously, it was said that the Yang Blade is taboo. This is because when one's body is strong enough to bear the wealth, one doesn't like the robbing. Later, it is said that the Yang Blade is welcome. This is because when one's body is weak and cannot bear the wealth, one doesn't mind the robbing. Each statement has its own reasoning. This pattern is similar to the Hurting Officer pattern. For those whose natal charts have this pattern, they usually have big eyes and yellow beards, are of a strong - willed and high - minded nature, have no kind and compassionate hearts, but have a sense of being harsh and unconcerned. They often have chronic diseases, are greedy and violent, hesitant in making decisions, are often illegitimate children, leave their ancestral homes or are adopted, may harm their fathers and wives. If they encounter the Three Punishments, or self - punishment and the Kui - Gang, they may make a fortune in the border areas. If there is no favorable condition or they are in a prosperous wealth situation, it is inauspicious. If all the punishments and harms are present and they are all in a favorable position, and there are also relieving deities, they will be extremely noble.
It is also said: In the Yang Blade pattern, generally, it is not suitable to be in the wealth aspect and it is feared that the Yang Blade will be activated by conflict. For example, for those born on a Wu day with the Yang Blade at Wu (noon), it is taboo to enter the Zi (north) wealth fortune; for those born on a Ren day with the Yang Blade at Zi (north), it is taboo to enter the Wu (south) wealth fortune; for those born on a Geng day with the Yang Blade at You (west), it is taboo to enter the Mao (east) wealth fortune. Only for those born on a Jia day with the Yang Blade at Mao (east), it is okay to enter the Si (south - east), Wu (south), Chen (east - north), Xu (west - south), Chou (north - west), and Wei (south - west) wealth fortunes, but the You (west) fortune is taboo; for those born on a Bing day with the Yang Blade at Wu (noon), it is okay to enter the Shen (west - south), You (west), Geng, Xin, Chou (north - west) wealth fortunes, but the Zi (north) fortune is taboo. The wealth that the Yang Blade忌讳 is as follows: when the Wu Yang Blade at Wu (noon) meets the Zi wealth, the Ren Yang Blade at Zi (north) meets the Wu wealth, and the Geng Yang Blade at You (west) meets the Mao wealth. These are all the wealth that conflicts with the Yang Blade, so they are taboo. As for the Jia Yang Blade at Mao (east), it does not忌讳 the Wu, Ji, Si, and Wu wealth, but rather忌讳 the You official; the Bing Yang Blade at Wu (noon) does not忌讳 the Geng, Xin, Shen, and You wealth, but rather忌讳 the Zi official. Can it be generally said that the Yang Blade pattern忌讳 all wealth? If the wealth in the Heavenly Stems can generate the official, it is exactly the favorable element, and it should be welcomed rather than being regarded as taboo.
In the book "State of Mind", it says: "When there are multiple Yang Blades and wealth appears, one will be rich and possess a lot of gold and silk." This is what it means. Some say that when Jia, Wu, and Geng encounter the Blade and are met with clashes, disasters often occur as predicted. When Ren and Bing encounter the Blade and there is a clash between Zi and Wu, there are often no disasters. This is because when Bing meets Zi and Ren meets Wu, they both become the Proper Officer, and it is instead regarded as an auspicious sign. It also says: Jia takes Ji as the wife and wealth. If there are Mao and Yi in the four pillars, the Ji Earth is damaged and cannot support Jia. Therefore, it is likely to lead to the loss of wife and children. When the annual and monthly cycles come again and the Robbery Blade is prosperous, it is really inevitable. If Geng, Xin, You, and Shen are encountered in other positions, Geng can take Yi as its wife and form a family. It will not be the Seven Killings for Jia. Xin assisting Jia is auspicious as it can overcome and break the Killing of Yi, turning misfortune into good fortune.
The scripture says: "When A marries B's sister to Geng, what seems inauspicious turns out to be an auspicious omen." The situation in Yugan follows this example. It also says that on the days of the Six Jia, encountering Yimao is inauspicious, while encountering Xinmao is auspicious. On the day of Jiashen and the hour of Dingmao, it is not considered a "blade" situation. In Shen, there is Geng which combines with the Yimu in Mao to form wealth. However, if the wealth is exposed, it is also inauspicious. Dinghuo is a "hurting officer", and Yimu seizes the wealth. When the annual and monthly cycles coincide, disasters are inevitable. On the day of Yiyou and the hour of Gengchen, it is not a "blade" situation. Yiyou means Yi sits under Geng, and the Xinjin in You restrains the Yimu in Chen. On the day of Bingzi and the hour of Jiawu, it is not a "blade" situation. The Guishui in Zi restrains the Dinghuo in Wu. On the day of Dinghai and the hour of Dingwei, it is not a "blade" situation. The water in Hai combines with Ding. On the day of Gengwu and the hour of Yiyou, it is not a "blade" situation. The Dinghuo in Wu restrains Xin. On the day of Renwu and the hour of Gengzi, it is not a "blade" situation. The Jitu in Wu restrains Gui. On the day of Xinsi and the hour of Wuxu, it is not a "blade" situation. The Binghuo in Si combines with Xin. On the day of Guisi and the hour of Guichou, it is not a "blade" situation. The Wutu in Si combines with Gui. For the above - mentioned days, those who encounter them should not experience punishment, breakage, conflict, or harm. If there is none of these, it can be judged as a good fortune.
It is also said that the Yang Blade is a fierce star in the sky and an evil spirit on earth. It favors the Partial Officer and the Seal, and dislikes the Reverse Conjunction, the Repetitive Conjunction, the Kui Gang, and the Three - Combination. Generally, it is similar to the Seven Kills. Therefore, the Yang Blade likes to encounter the Seven Kills, and the Seven Kills likes to encounter the Yang Blade. These two fierce elements can restrain each other. Just as the Proper Officer likes the Proper Seal, when good elements combine with good elements, it brings good fortune.
The classic says: A killing qi is not prominent without a yang blade, and a yang blade is not powerful without a killing qi. It is rare for an ordinary person to have both a killing qi and a yang blade. Moreover, it is better if one's body (a concept in traditional Chinese fortune - telling) is strong and there is no harm - official star. If there are a killing qi and a yang blade in one's birth chart, and they also appear in the annual and monthly luck cycles; or if there is a yang blade but no killing qi in the birth chart, and a killing - qi luck cycle is encountered in the annual and monthly luck, all these will bring great fortune. If there is a yang blade and a seal star but no killing qi in the birth chart, when a killing - qi luck cycle is encountered in the annual and monthly luck, it will turn into great blessings. If there is neither a yang blade nor a killing qi in the birth chart, but the chart conforms to the pattern of wealth and official stars, and a yang - blade and killing - qi luck cycle is encountered in the annual and monthly luck, it will lead to a year of stagnation. There will be disputes over wealth, separation among brothers, and the departure of wives and concubines. If there is no yang blade originally, although it may not cause serious problems when a yang - blade luck cycle is encountered, it will also lead to the loss of one's wife. If there is a yang blade originally, it is extremely inappropriate to encounter it again in the annual and monthly luck, as well as the harm - official star and wealth star positions. If there are already harm - official stars and wealth stars in the original birth chart, and they are encountered again in the annual and monthly luck, the disasters will be extremely serious, especially for those with a weak body. It is also said that there are only three days with a day - yang blade, namely Wuwu, Bingwu, and Renzi, and they follow the same rules as the yang blade.
The classic says: When a red - yellow horse lies alone and a black rat guards an empty room, it means that for men, it is inauspicious for their wives; for women, it is inauspicious for their husbands. This refers to these three days. It is not favorable to have punishments, clashes, breaks, harms, three - meeting combinations, or six - harmony combinations. There should be the Seven Kills to counterbalance, and when one's fortune enters the stages of the Officer and Seal, it will be a good fate.
The poem about the blade (Yangren) says: The Yangren on the day pillar is most tabooed to be in conflict or combination. It prefers to be restricted by the official and the seven - killing. A combination or punishment is inauspicious, while meeting the seal is auspicious. If there is the seven - killing but no Yangren, one acts bravely but without prestige; if there is Yangren but no seven - killing, one's deeds are vulgar and not prominent. When there is no seven - killing but then encounters it, one may be invaded by disasters; when there is Yangren and then encounters another Yangren, one must beware of the danger of disasters. If Yangren is born (a certain astrological condition) and the person dies, it's hard to consider that year as auspicious. If wealth is prosperous and the official is damaged, that year cannot be judged as inauspicious. It also says: For those born on Wuwu day, if there is much fire in the year and month pillars, it is regarded as the situation of the seal. For those born on Renzi day, if there are many Zi in the month and hour pillars, it is regarded as the situation of the flying celestial stem and earthly branch for wealth and honor. For those born on Bingwu day, if there are many Wu, it is also regarded as the situation of the reverse - rushing celestial stem and earthly branch for wealth and honor. There are three days of self - Yangren: Guichou, Dingchou, Dingwei, and Jiwei, because there is the peer and Yangren sitting under the day stem. There are four days of flying Yangren: Bingzi, Dingchou, Wuzhi, and Jichou, because there is Yangren rushed out under the day stem. The auspicious and inauspicious conditions of these flying Yangren are mostly the same as those of the previous Yangren. The Yangren on the year pillar and the hour pillar are the most serious. The Yangren on the year pillar indicates the destruction of the ancestral foundation, not inheriting the parents' property, and always being resented after showing kindness. The Yangren on the hour pillar indicates harming the wife and children and having no good results in old age. If it appears again in the four pillars, it will bring disasters and diseases to siblings. The Yangren on the month pillar is a bit less serious, and that on the day pillar is even less so. If there is much wealth in the month and day stems and branches of a person's horoscope, while the day stem is weak, and there is Yangren in the hour pillar, it is harmless. If there is the seven - killing in the month pillar and Yangren in the hour pillar, and the day master has energy, it indicates great nobility. However, if there is Yangren in the month pillar and a little official in the hour pillar, but the official is not strong enough to restrict the Yangren, it is also inauspicious. It also says: If a man's horoscope shows the defeat and robbery stars and the hurting officer star, he will definitely harm his wife and children. If a woman's horoscope has such a situation, she will harm her husband.
The ode says: The star of the equal - shoulder and the god of robbery are those that squander wealth. When one has a lot of wealth but a weak body (in the context of fortune - telling, representing a lack of the ability to hold wealth), encountering them is regarded as something extraordinary. When one has little wealth but a strong body, seeing them brings disasters. If one has wealth and meets the star of robbery, when the fortune enters the wealth - favorable period, one can surely establish a family and achieve prosperity. If one has no wealth and meets the star of robbery, even if it's not a wealth - related year, there will still be losses. If there is already a star of robbery in the original horoscope and then one encounters a robbery - related fortune, one will be in a poor and miserable situation. If one has a strong body and is further assisted by the star of seal, one will surely enjoy glory and good fortune.
The "Xiang Xin Fu" states: "When one has Jie Cai and Yang Ren, they will leave their ancestral home to establish their own family. They seem humble and righteous on the outside, but are actually vicious and ignorant inside. They have the intention of exploitation and lack a kind - hearted nature." The "Xin Jing" says: "When there are multiple Yang Ren and also Sha, one will achieve great honor and pass the highest imperial examinations." The "Qian Li Ma" states: "If Yang Ren and Pian Guan are controlled, one will hold a military position." It also says: "For a man, encountering Yang Ren when his body is weak is considered a rare occurrence." It further says: "With Yang Ren and Qi Sha, one will become famous in officialdom." And also: "When Yang Ren combines with official Sha, one will awe the border areas." The "Yu Xia Fu" says: "For those with Fire and Metal Yang Ren, they may end up like Green Pearl falling to death from a high - rise building." It also says: "If there are three or four Yang Ren, one will surely suffer from diseases such as blindness and deafness." The "Jing Shen Fu" states: "If the entire Bazi is filled with Yang Ren, one will surely end up being dismembered." The "Ding Zhen Pian" says: "If Yang Ren meets Yin Shou, one will be rich but have a disability." The "Zao Wei Lun" says: "If Yang Ren appears during the five breaths, one will surely commit crimes and be exiled." It is also observed that many who commit the Yang Ren Sha are blind. For example, in the Bazi of Gui You, Wu Wu, Wu Yin, Gui Chou; Bing Yin, Geng Yin, Bing Wu, Yi Wei; Ding Mao, Gui Mao, Jia Zi, Yi Hai, all three individuals are blind.
An ancient song says:
When Yangren (a term in traditional Chinese fortune - telling) coincides with Pian Guan (a term in traditional Chinese fortune - telling), it's a favorable situation. But if the Wealth Star (a term in traditional Chinese fortune - telling) appears, there will be numerous disasters. When the annual and luck cycles are in conflict or combination, sudden misfortunes will come to the doorstep.
Moreover:
When the Yang Blade appears again and combines, there will be harm. The person is of high - spirited and strong - willed nature. If the clashes and punishments are too severe, there will be many misfortunes. Only with proper restraint can good fortune and prosperity be ensured.
Moreover:
When the blade meets the Seven Killings, it yearns for the official position. It only fears that punishment and conflict will make the fortune of salary not prosperous. If there is a combination and a prosperous fortune - bringing luck, one should prevent disasters that may bring harm to oneself.
Moreover:
The pattern of being on par with Yang Ren is quite special. It requires the presence of the Officer Star and the Killing Element. If there is no restraint of the Officer or Killing Element in the original chart, further encountering the comparison and robbery phases will bring inescapable disasters.
Moreover:
When the wealth star is weak and the sword-like element is strong, it brings great misfortune in the prosperous phase of one's life. One will be like a widowed phoenix or a solitary roc, complaining in the quiet night, and it's likely to see the passing of two or three wives.
Moreover:
When the blade meets the Seven Killings and the luck is in the official position, with breakings, harms, punishments and clashes, it brings extraordinary nobility. But it's essential to avoid the conjunction with the prosperous wealth area, for it will surely lead to disasters and even counter - punishments and injuries.
Moreover:
The daily blade is similar to the Yang blade. It's favorable for the official star and the seven killing star to appear in the earthly branches. If the annual heavenly stem doesn't harm the blade, and there are clashes and punishments in the earthly branches, one will establish military achievements.
Moreover:
The Yang Blade always lies before the Heavenly Stem's Prosperity. Those with it are resolute and tough, showing little mercy. It's unadvisable for it to combine with other elements, as disasters may arrive. If the Wealth Star appears, misfortunes are surely to follow. If there are both the Officer Star and the Seven - Killings Star, one will gain fame and status. Without clashes or damages, one will enjoy prosperity and promotion. If it is accompanied by punishments, harms, and the Kui - Gang combination, one will make a fortune and hold important power in the border areas.
For example, in one birth chart: Ren Shen, Ren Zi, Wu Wu, Yi Mao. The day stem Wu sits on the Yang Blade. There are two Ren Shen and Ren Zi, indicating strong and abundant wealth. Although there is a clash between Zi and Wu, the combination of Shen and Zi prevents the clash between Zi and Wu. The official star at the hour stem restrains the Yang Blade, so it is only regarded as a pattern of wealth and official. Therefore, the person with this chart will be extremely noble.
