On Xianchi

《淮南子》曰：「日出扶桑，入于咸池。」故五行沐浴之地，名咸池。是取日人之义，万物暗昧之时。寅午戌卯、已酉丑午、申子辰酉、亥卯未子即长生第二位沐浴之宫是也。一名败神，一名桃花煞，其神之奸邪淫鄙，如生旺则美容仪，耽酒色，疏财好欢，破散家业，唯务贪淫；如死绝，落魄不检，言行狡诈，游荡赌博，忘恩失信，私滥奸淫，靡所不为；与元辰并，更临生旺者，多得匪人为妻；与贵人建禄并，多因油盐酒货得生，或因妇人暗昧之财起家，平生有水厄、痨瘵之疾，累遭遗失暗昧之灾。此人入命，有破无成，非为吉兆，妇人尤忌之。
咸池非吉煞，日时与水命遇之尤凶。
Interpretation
According to *Huainanzi*, "The sun rises from Fusang and sets in Xianchi." Therefore, the place where the Five Elements take a "bath" is named Xianchi. This is based on the meaning of the sun setting. It is the time when all things are in a state of obscurity. For the combinations of Yin, Wu, Xu and Mao; Si, You, Chou and Wu; Shen, Zi, Chen and You; Hai, Mao, Wei and Zi, they are the palaces of the second stage - the "bathing" stage after the "birth" stage in the cycle of the Five Elements. It is also known as the "God of Defeat" and the "Peach - Blossom Evil Star". This star represents lewdness and wickedness. If it is in a prosperous state in one's horoscope, the person will have good looks, be indulged in wine and women, be generous with money, like to have fun, and may squander the family fortune, only focusing on lust. If it is in a state of decline or extinction, the person will be down - and - out and undisciplined, with cunning words and deeds, like to wander around and gamble, forget kindness and break promises, and engage in all kinds of illicit sexual activities. If it appears together with the Yuan Chen star and is in a prosperous state, the man is likely to marry an unvirtuous wife. If it appears together with the Noble Star and the Jianlu star, the person may earn a living from oil, salt, wine and other goods, or start a family business with the hidden wealth from women. Throughout life, the person may suffer from water - related disasters, tuberculosis and other diseases, and often encounter losses and hidden misfortunes. When this star enters one's horoscope, it usually leads to failure rather than success, and it is not a good omen, especially for women.
Xianchi is not an inauspicious star, but when it appears in the day and hour columns and meets a person with the water element in their destiny, it is especially inauspicious.
