General Discussion on Gods and Fiends

Interpretation

There were originally 120 names for divine and inauspicious stars in ancient times. The explanations about them are far - fetched and fragmented. It's unlikely that nature operates in such a way. Among them, inauspicious stars like Yangren, Kongwang, Jiesha, Zaisha, Dasha, Yuanchen, Goujiao, Xianchi, Posui, Luowang, Chongji, Tiankong Xuanzhen, Pingtou Daoge, etc., which are crucial in one's horoscope, have been comprehensively discussed before. Now, based on the reasonable tests and verifications by various astrologers, the following are further detailed descriptions.

The self - hanging evil star. This evil star is determined by the reverse relationship in the Five Elements. For example, for those born in the year of Xu, the evil star is Si; for those born in the year of Si, it is Xu; for those born in the year of Chen, it is Hai; for those born in the year of Hai, it is Chen; for those born in the year of Yin, it is Wei; for those born in the year of Wei, it is Yin; for those born in the year of Mao, it is Shen; for those born in the year of Shen, it is Mao; for those born in the year of Wu, it is Chou; for those born in the year of Chou, it is Wu; for those born in the year of Zi, it is You; for those born in the year of You, it is Zi. It is extremely inauspicious if there is mutual restraint. If the Heavenly Stem corresponds to the tomb position, and there are also the Heavenly Middle, the Official Talisman, and the Great Loss, it is surely an omen of misfortune.

Water Drowning Evil Star. This evil star is determined by having the Salt Pool, Metal Edge, and Yang Blade on Bingzi, Guiwei, and Guichou. Since the纳音 of Bingzi is water, and Zi is the place where water is at its strongest, Wei is the dwelling of the Well Constellation, and Chou is the division of the Three Rivers. Moreover, when the 纳音 restrains the self, it is inevitable (to encounter misfortune). An ancient poem says: "When the moving evil star restrains the self, it is called falling. Be wary when the Metal God and Yang Blade are in the same position. To know the most inauspicious god of hanging oneself, it includes Xu, Si, Chen, Hai, Yin, and Wei. Zi and You are also regarded as evil stars in the same way. Mao, Shen, Chou, and Wei are the same as before. It is extremely taboo to have the Empty and Absent and the Tomb Ghost. One must also avoid the Official Omen and the Great Loss. Be afraid of the Salt Pool, Metal Evil Star, and Yang Blade on Bingzi, Guiwei, and Guichou. If the five - elements further restrain the self, one will either hang oneself or drown."

The "Hanging Sword Evil". This evil is determined when the four pillars of the birth chart contain all of Si, You, Chou, and Shen. Or it also counts if there are multiple occurrences of Si, You, and Chou. Moreover, if it is combined with other inauspicious signs such as the Official Omen, the Original Star, the White Tiger, and the Metal God, and the five - element interactions cause harm to the person's natal element, it indicates that the person will be violent and may kill others, or may be killed by others. There is a poem saying: "When the metal energy of Si, You, Chou, and Shen is complete, it forms the Congge pattern known as the Hanging Sword. When the Original Star is lost, and the Metal Tiger appears and harms the self, even if one doesn't kill others, one's own life won't be spared."

Heavenly Fire Omen. This omen occurs when the three signs Yin, Wu, and Xu are all present in the Bazi, and among the Heavenly Stems, there are Bing and Ding, while there is no water element in the five positions. If there is water, it doesn't count as this omen. When the annual or luck cycle reaches the place where the fire qi is prosperous, one should guard against fire disasters. There is a poem that says: "When Yin, Wu, and Xu are all present, it's called Heavenly Fire. It's still okay if there is no Bing or Ding. If there is not a single water deity in the five positions, disasters caused by fire will occur when the prosperous fire phase arrives in the annual cycle." In someone else's Bazi, Yin, Wu, and Xu are all present. There is Gui in the Heavenly Stem of the month. When going through the Wu-Wu luck cycle, Wu and Gui transform into fire. In the Jia-Xu year and Jia-Xu month, a fire disaster occurred.

Tian Tu Sha (Heavenly Slaughter Evil). Except for the noon on the day of Zi and the midnight on the day of Wu, for the rest, it's from the time of Chou to the time of Hai on the day of Chou, from the time of Chou to the time of Hai on the day of Hai, from the time of Yin to the time of Xu on the day of Yin, from the time of Yin to the time of Xu on the day of Xu, from the time of Mao to the time of You on the day of Mao, from the time of Mao to the time of You on the day of You, from the time of Chen to the time of Shen on the day of Chen, from the time of Chen to the time of Shen on the day of Shen, from the time of Si to the time of Wei on the day of Si, from the time of Si to the time of Wei on the day of Wei, and so on, counting two time periods in sequence. If a gentleman offends this evil, it will lead to strange diseases, such as intestinal wind and beriberi; if a commoner offends it, it will cause damage to the limbs. Those who offend it repeatedly will be sentenced to exile.

The Heavenly Punishment Ominous Sign. For this ominous sign, for those born in the years of Rat (Zi) and Ox (Chou), it is the B time; for those born in the year of Tiger (Yin), it is the Geng time; for those born in the years of Rabbit (Mao) and Dragon (Chen), it is the Xin time; for those born in the year of Snake (Si), it is the Ren time; for those born in the years of Horse (Wu) and Goat (Wei), it is the Gui time; for those born in the A year, it is the Bing time; for those born in the years of Rooster (You) and Dog (Xu), it is the Ding time; for those born in the year of Pig (Hai), it is the Wu time. It is determined by the time's conflict with one's birth sign. Those who are affected by it will suffer punishment and have illnesses.

Thunderbolt Evil Star. In the first and seventh months, it is in the north (Zi) and northeast (Yin); in the second and eighth months, it is in the northeast (Yin); in the third and ninth months, it is in the southeast (Chen) and south (Wu); in the fourth and tenth months, it is in the south (Wu); in the fifth and eleventh months, it is in the southwest (Shen); in the sixth and twelfth months, it is in the northwest (Xu). It is said that those affected by this star are likely to be struck by thunder or bitten by tigers. Another saying goes: "In the first and seventh months, it starts from Zi; in the second and eighth months, it is in Yin; in the third and ninth months, it is in Chen; in the fourth and tenth months, it is in Wu; in the fifth and eleventh months, it is in Shen; in the sixth and twelfth months, it is in Xu." Starting from the first month, it moves clockwise through the six Yang positions. If a person's life encounters this evil star and also meets with good fortune and noble stars, it is considered auspicious. Such a person is likely to do good deeds secretly and may become a Taoist priest in charge of thunder - related magic, or even achieve a high level of spiritual attainment like a Buddha or an ancestor. However, if this evil star combines with other inauspicious stars such as Yangren, Disha, and Feilian, the person's fate will surely be unlucky, and they may die from being struck by natural thunder, being eaten by tigers, being punished by heaven, suffering from plagues, drowning, or dying in prison.

Swallowing the Fiend of Entrapment. When pigs, dogs, and sheep meet a tiger, they're bound to be harmed. When monkeys and snakes encounter each other, they'll perish among the trees. When a dog meets a rooster, it will face exile. When a rabbit chases a snake, it will wander far away. When a rat sees a dog, they'll fight fiercely. When horses and cows meet a tiger, they'll surely harm each other. When a rabbit and a monkey meet a dog, they can't avoid disaster. When a dragon meets another dragon, there'll be misfortune in the water. If a person encounters such a day, carefully examine the disasters caused by the three - compatible signs. Original note: It is based on the earthly branch of the birth year.

The Official Omen Evil Star. Take the fifth celestial stem and earthly branch before the Tai Sui (Year Star). If one encounters it on a certain day or at a certain time, they will often face official disasters throughout their life. If it combines with the Yang Blade, it indicates a life destined for imprisonment. If the Official Omen falls in the center of the sky, it often implies many strange and false things, and it is named the False - Speech Evil Star.

The "Sickness Talisman Evil Star". Take the zodiac sign one position after the current year's zodiac sign. Those who are affected by it often suffer from many diseases. The same applies when it appears in one's annual fortune.

The "Dead Talisman Evil". It is obtained from the opposite position of the "Sickness Talisman". If one violates it on a certain day, month, or time, and there is no noble deity to rescue, it will bring about misfortune, evil, and an early and short - lived fate.

The Mourning and Lamentation Ominous Star. Also known as the Horizontal Barrier Ominous Star. Take the second earthly branch before one's birth year as the Mourning Gate and the second earthly branch after one's birth year as the Lamentation Guest. If the inauspicious stars of the Grand Duke Jupiter come together with the minor and major fortune limits, it will surely bring misfortune. An ancient poem says: "At the fifth, sixth, and twelfth positions, there are death and illness; at the third and eleventh positions, the mourning and lamentation arrive." It can be seen that this song about the twelve palaces and the Grand Duke Jupiter indicates that not only is it inauspicious when it appears in one's natal chart, but it is even more ominous in the flowing year. If the Moon Blade appears in the month to assist, and the inauspicious stars arrive at the right time, then it is the Horizontal Barrier. An ancient song says: "Few people know about the evil Horizontal Barrier Ominous Star. When the monthly prosperity and the inauspicious star come at the right time, even if there are auspicious stars coming one after another, one will either suffer from punishment or be in great danger."

The inauspicious signs related to residence and tomb. The fifth celestial stem and branch ahead of one's birth year is regarded as a source of misfortune, while the fifth one behind is considered as the "tomb". It's feared that the inauspicious signs such as those from the annual and lunar calamities break through the misfortune of one's birth year. This mainly leads to groaning.

The daily punishment evil star. Count the Jiazi (a cycle of 60 terms in the Chinese sexagenary cycle) starting from the day of one's birth. Stop at the Heavenly Stem of the current day. For Yang Heavenly Stems, count in the forward order; for Yin Heavenly Stems, count in the reverse order. If it is in the Life Palace, it indicates extreme punishment; if it is in the Trine position, it indicates exile and being assigned to hard labor; if it is in the opposite position, it indicates death outside.

Bleeding Evil Star. Start counting from the month of one's birth, and count forward in sequence starting from the Year of the Rat until reaching the current year. If it is in the Life Palace, the Three Conjunctions, or the Opposite Palace, it indicates carbuncles and boils. For common people, it may lead to exile and punishment, and for women, it may bring difficulties in childbirth.

The Sword Edge Omen. In the Jiazi cycle, the sword edge is at Chen and the peak is at Xu; in the Jiawu cycle, the sword edge is at Xu and the peak is at Chen; in the Jiayin cycle, the sword edge is at Wu and the peak is at Shen; in the Jiashen cycle, the sword edge is at Zi and the peak is at Yin; in the Jiachen cycle, the sword edge is at Shen and the peak is at Wu; in the Jiaxu cycle, the sword edge is at Yin and the peak is at Zi. Judgments are made according to the respective palaces. For example, if it appears in the fifth palace, it will harm one's children; if it appears in the fourth palace, it will damage one's fields and houses.

The evil influence of the halberd's edge. In the first lunar month, it starts from the Heavenly Stem "Jia"; in the second month, "Yi"; in the third month, "Wu"; in the fourth month, "Bing"; in the fifth month, "Ding"; in the sixth month, "Ji"; in the seventh month, "Geng"; in the eighth month, "Xin"; in the ninth month, "Wu"; in the tenth month, "Ren"; in the eleventh month, "Gui"; in the twelfth month, "Si". When the prosperous Heavenly Stem of each month is added and present, if it appears twice in the day and hour, it is inauspicious. If it also coincides with the "Hanging Needle" (a certain astrological or divinatory sign), it indicates being exiled and suffering from disabilities.

Fuchen Evil. Start from Xu, then move backwards to the position of one's birth year. Then count from the year's palace to see which palace it lands on. If it is only in the Wealth Palace, it is called "Stringing Coins", indicating rich savings. All other cases are inauspicious. Those with the Heavenly Stems of Jia, Yi, Ji, Geng, or Ren who are affected by this evil will suffer less; those with the Heavenly Stems of Bing, Ding, Wu, Xin, or Gui who are affected will suffer more. In the years of Yin, Wu, Shen, and Wei, this evil mostly indicates the danger of drowning. The disasters should still be judged according to each palace. For example, if it is in the House of Property, it indicates the loss of ancestral property. The same principle applies to other palaces.

Breaking the inauspicious signs. For these inauspicious signs, the combination of Mao and Wu, Chou and Chen, Zi and You, Wei and Xu are all in a state of mutual breaking. Only for Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai, although they originally have a breaking relationship, they form a three - element combination, so this breaking relationship is not considered. Those who are affected by these inauspicious signs will suffer from disasters and stagnation in their youth, with their property being dissipated and they may also encounter injuries.

Return to the root and cause harm. In the Five - Elements theory, when there is no noble qi, and the lower element restrains the upper element, it is called "return". A verse says: "When the Five - Elements are in a state of death and extinction all at once, even if there are certain patterns, good fortune won't follow. It's even more taboo for the day and hour to restrain the year's main element. One must know for sure that there will be no official nobility." For example, for someone with the Jiazi metal life, if they have the Wuwu day, and their fetus month, day, and hour often have Yin and Si, those who violate this will surely be isolated. Whether they are rich or noble, once they reach a prosperous state, they will cause harm, and they will harm their parents and elders.

Yin-Yang Evils. Women belong to the Yin and favor the Yang. If a woman's fate has the strong Yang fire of Wuwu (a combination in the Chinese calendar), it is considered the true Yang. Men belong to the Yang and favor the Yin. If a man's fate has the strong Yin water of Bingzi (a combination in the Chinese calendar), it is considered the true Yin. This represents a harmonious balance between Yin and Yang. Therefore, a man with Bingzi in his fate will generally meet many beautiful women in his life; a woman with Wuwu in her fate will often encounter many handsome men. If this occurs on the day column, a man will get a beautiful wife and a woman will get a handsome husband. It is extremely inauspicious if it is in the same palace as Yuanchen and Xianchi. Regardless of gender, people in this situation will be promiscuous. For example, a man with Wuwu will be loved by many women; a woman with Bingzi will be seduced by many men. Moreover, one should also consider the signs of nobility or commonness.

The evil star of lust and hindrance. As stated in "Hu Zhong Zi", "An old man's excessive indulgence in the pleasure houses is directly due to repeatedly encountering the 'Eight Specials'; the early demise of many in the land of Chu should be because they repeatedly met the 'Nine Uglies'." It means that the 'Eight Specials' are the evil stars of lust, and the 'Nine Uglies' are the inauspicious times of hindrance. The 'Eight Specials' refer to Jia Yin, Yi Mao, Ji Wei, Ding Wei, Geng Shen, Xin You, Wu Xu, and Gui Chou. If one has these in the day column, it indicates an improper wife; if in the hour column, it indicates an improper son. Women who encounter this are indiscriminate in their relationships, and those who encounter it multiple times are in a more serious situation. The 'Nine Uglies' are Ren Zi, Ren Wu, Wu Zi, Wu Wu, Ji You, Ji Mao, Yi Mao, Xin You, and Xin Mao. Women who encounter this will face difficulties in childbirth; men who encounter it often end up in an ugly and unlucky way.

The "Lone Phoenix and Widowed Magpie" evil omen. An ancient song says, "When wood and fire meet the snake, it's extremely inauspicious. Why should the golden pig be so over - assertive? Where is the husband for those born in the year of the earth monkey or the wooden tiger? They will dance alone as if they are lone phoenixes at times." These refer to the days of Yisi, Dingsi, Xinhai, Wushen, and Jiayin, as well as the days of Bingwu, Wuwu, and Renzi. For men, it means they will overcome their wives; for women, it means they will overcome their husbands.

The Yin-Yang Discrepancy Evil Star occurs on twelve days: Bingzi, Dingchou, Wuyin, Xinmao, Renshen, Guisi, Bingwu, Dingwei, Wushen, Xinyou, Renxu, and Guihai. When a woman encounters this, she will have a poor relationship with her in - laws, have conflicts with her sisters - in - law, and her husband's family will decline. When a man encounters it, he will have a rift with his wife's family and also have disputes and a poor relationship with them. Regardless of gender, if this evil star is violated twice or thrice in the month, day, or hour of one's birth, it is extremely serious. If it is only violated on the day of birth, it is even more serious. It means that one cannot get support from the wife's family. Even if there is a wife's dowry, it will turn out to be illusory. In the long run, one will become an enemy of the wife's family and have no more contact with them.

When one encounters the "Rob Wealth" (a term in traditional Chinese fortune - telling) during the "Prosperous" stage, it is called the "Peach Blossom Omen". It indicates a tendency to be fond of wine and women.

When the return conjunction meets the owl star, it is called the short - life evil star. It mainly indicates harm to one's wife and children.

The peach blossom evil is extremely inauspicious. For those born in the years of the Pig, Rabbit, and Goat, the inauspicious time is the year of the Rat; for those born in the years of the Snake, Rooster, and Ox, it is the year of the Horse; for those born in the years of the Tiger, Horse, and Dog, it is the year of the Rabbit; for those born in the years of the Monkey, Rat, and Dragon, it is the year of the Rooster. These are the so - called peach blossom evils. When a person with the Heavenly Stems of A or B meets the year of the Horse, the year of Bingyin, the year of Dingwei, the year of Wuzhi, the year of Jichen, the year of Gengxu, the year of Xinyou, the year of Renshi, and the year of Guishen, it is the so - called gorgeous red evil. This is especially inauspicious for women.

Among the above-mentioned evil stars, when it is said that they "overpower the person," it refers to the inauspicious stars whose earthly branch's associated element in the sixty - four hexagram纳音 system overpowers the element of the birth year. When the 纳音 of the Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui) is related to the person, it means that an inauspicious star brings the 纳音 of the Grand Duke Jupiter to its original position. When the 纳音 of the Grand Duke Jupiter represents the person, if the person's element is overpowered or located in the positions of death, decline, or exhaustion, then unexpected disasters will occur. If the person's element is overpowered in a position where it has qi, the disaster will be serious; if it is just affected by the inauspicious star, the disaster will be relatively minor. Only when the 纳音 of the Grand Duke Jupiter overpowers the evil star is it considered auspicious. If a person's fate has entered the noble category and there are evil stars in important positions, if there are auspicious stars to assist, it is called having power and authority. If there are no auspicious stars to assist and the evil star is in a prosperous state, interacting with other factors, or punishing and overpowering the main element of the person, the person will end up in a low - class and miserable way. It is also said that for all auspicious stars, the positions they occupy should be in a prosperous state. When they are prosperous, the person will be honorable and wealthy. For all evil stars, the positions they occupy should be in a state of death or exhaustion. When they are in such a state, the person will have a peaceful end. It is also said that all auspicious stars should be in a prosperous qi state and it is taboo for there to be factors that damage them. All evil stars should be in a declining qi state and it is taboo for there to be factors that assist them. It is also said that when there are conflicts, breakages, trines, and sextiles in a person's fate, one should examine how the five elements interact. Sometimes, good fortune can emerge from misfortune, and misfortune can emerge from good fortune. For example, if an element in a state of death or exhaustion is revived, or an empty and void element is broken but then forms a complementary relationship, it means good fortune emerging from misfortune. On the contrary, it means misfortune emerging from good fortune. The "Book of Fate" says: "Even low - ranking officials on the roads may have the auspicious star of the traveling horse. Even gamblers in the marketplace may have the three wonderful and noble stars." Ziping says: "Even in the fates of noble people, there may be the seven - killing star and the Yang blade star. Even in the fates of common people, there may be the proper seal star and the official star." From this, we can see that the auspicious and inauspicious stars cannot be judged rigidly. We need to make a comprehensive assessment and be flexible in judgment. Generally speaking, when an evil star is present, it is not suitable for the person's fate to have a real evil ghost star. If the person's main element is damaged, even if there is an official star, it may turn into an evil star, not to mention when there is a real evil ghost star. The resulting disasters are obvious!
