Meeting Noble People Despite Conflict

经云：日时相刑得遇贵，执法有权势。又云：寅刑巳，巳刑申，庚辛逢寅是贵人；卯刑子，子刑卯，癸乙双双富又清；未刑戌，戌刑未，甲戊逢羊贵自荣，不利文官主武权。如刘应节尚书：癸未、乙卯、丙戌、戊子，子卯刑而得乙癸，未戌刑而得戊，所以官历兵、刑，纵有文名，不居学翰。

Interpretation

The classic says: When there is mutual punishment between the day and the hour and one meets with noble people, one will hold power in law enforcement. It also says: When Yin punishes Si, and Si punishes Shen, those with Geng or Xin in their bazi and meeting Yin are noble people; when Mao punishes Zi, and Zi punishes Mao, those with Gui and Yi are both wealthy and pure; when Wei punishes Xu, and Xu punishes Wei, those with Jia or Wu meeting Wei will gain honor as noble people, and this is unfavorable for civil officials but indicates power in military affairs. For example, Liu Yingjie, the Minister: His bazi is Guiwei, Yimao, Bingxu, Wuzhi. There is punishment between Zi and Mao, and he has Gui and Yi; there is punishment between Wei and Xu, and he has Wu. Therefore, he held positions in the military and the penal system. Although he had a reputation for literature, he did not hold positions in the literary and academic fields.
